The Mizoram government has issued a directive for its employees to don traditional Mizo attire as part of the upcoming Chapchar Kut festival celebrations. Scheduled for March 13, 2026, the festival serves to enhance and celebrate the cultural heritage of the Mizo community. In a notification by the General Administration Department, all government employees, along with those in Public Sector Undertakings, Boards, Bodies, and Agencies under the state government, are urged to wear traditional Mizo dresses until March 12. The notification requests that Administrative Heads and Heads of Departments ensure that all staff members are aware of this directive. Chapchar Kut is recognized as Mizoram’s spring festival, showcasing Mizo culture through various forms such as traditional dances, music, artistic expressions, and local cuisine. This annual March event serves as an opportunity for communities to unite in honoring their heritage, characterized by performances, crafts, and communal festivities.
