Star Cement organised a Livelihood and Skill- Building Enhancement Support Program at NEDFi Auditorium Hall and distributed sewing machines and dictionaries among various people.
As a part of the Livelihood and Skill-Building Enhancement Support Program, Star Cement launched a computer book – “Angulir Murot Computer” that will be used under the digital literary program – “Computer on Wheels” which is operational in the Sonapur area in Kamrup (M) district. The book has been developed by a team of academicians from Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati.
“Angulir Murot Computer” was launched by Smt. Mrinalini Devi, Vice President, Assam Sahitya Sabha who had graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Noted Assamese author Smt. Alakananda Dutta was present in the initiative that was held in NEDFi auditorium hall. Smt. Alakananda Dutta distributed Anglo-Assamese dictionaries among the students of eight high schools and higher secondary schools of Sonapur area.
Star Cement had earlier collaborated with Usha International Ltd. to provide a tailoring course and impart skills in stitching, cutting and designing various dresses with different types of fabrics and empower the locals to take up entrepreneurship by establishing small scale business with tailoring and garment-making. The Program was undertaken as a CSR activity under Skill- Building Enhancement Support Program.
Commenting on the initiative, Shri Pradeep Purohit, CSO, Star Cement said that I am glad to share the intention of Star Cement of spreading learning environment in the Sonapur area so that young local people will be able to get access to different learning skills, and providing free learning materials and facilities of practical learning to interested locals of the marginalised section of the society.
