The launch of SOUL 2025 – Stories of Unity, Land and Culture, a unique docu-fiction competition and film festival that seeks to celebrate and document the sacred relationship between people and the land across the diverse communities of Northeast Bharat. The festival will be held from 19th 20th to 21st September 2025 at Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio, Kahilipara, Guwahati.
SOUL is not just a film competition—it is a cultural movement to preserve and promote the traditional land worship practices, rituals, and philosophies of diverse communities. From the hills to the plains, from farming rituals to nature worship, this festival aims to showcase how the land is honored as sacred, and how this deep connection forms the spiritual and cultural foundation of our people.
Participants are invited to submit short docu-fiction films ranging from 5 to 15 minutes that portray this timeless bond between land and life. This platform is open to filmmakers, students, cultural groups, and storytellers from all eight Northeastern states of Bharat. Importantly, this is not a contest to compare rituals or communities. Winning entries will be selected based on the depth of storytelling, emotional strength, clarity, authenticity, and cinematic presentation.
