Škoda Auto revs up India expansion with announcement of new compact SUV

Škoda Auto has announced a significant stride in its Indian market expansion with the introduction of a new compact SUV, slated to debut in the first half of 2025. The upcoming SUV, built on the MQB-A0-IN platform like its predecessors, reflects Škoda’s keen understanding of the Indian consumer preferences. Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Škoda Auto a.s, emphasized the strategic importance of India in the brand’s global growth trajectory, noting the country’s pivotal role as a development and manufacturing hub. Dr Johannes Neft, Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development, highlighted the platform’s innovative design and localization features, ensuring competitive pricing and superior quality. Martin Jahn, Member of the Board of Management for Sales & Marketing, underscored Škoda’s commitment to capturing a significant market share in India’s dynamic automotive landscape.

Piyush Arora, Managing Director and CEO of Škoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL), outlined the company’s robust manufacturing and sales strategy, leveraging local production and a growing supplier base. The announcement also includes a captivating naming contest, #NameYourSkoda, inviting consumers to participate in shaping the brand’s identity in India.
