Heroin and morphine worth Rs 15 crore were seized and three persons were arrested from Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday.
According to a senior police officer in the district, the three were coming from Manipur in a car and were heading towards Siliguri in West Bengal when they were nabbed at a place under Dilai police station in the wee hours of Tuesday..
“Acting on a tip-off, our team launched an operation. They impounded the vehicle and arrested three people, all of whom hailed from Manipur. Police have also seized a large quantity of drugs,” he said.
The seizure included 380 grams of heroin, 1 kg of morphine and 2 kg of methamphetamine, estimated to be worth around Rs 15 crore as per international standards, the report said.
