RGL Labs will stay in Assam; ONGC is fully committed to supporting local development

In response to the recent news items published in few newspapers regarding shifting of ONGC’s Regional Geosciences Lab (RGL) out of Assam, ONGC reiterates that there is no such plan to shift the present RGL from Sivsagar. ONGC reaffirms continued presence of Regional Geosciences Lab (RGL) in Assam.


A new RGL with advanced technology has been constructed in Jorhat to meet the increasing operational needs of the entire North East Region, particularly Assam. It will also play a significant role towards providing access to resources fostering a conducive environment for learning, skill development and research works for students of NE Region. Further current RGL building at Sivsagar has also been renovated to provide better working conditions. ONGC has reassured local organizations of its commitment to Assam’s economic and social development, stating that it is focused on enhancing operational efficiency and achieving excellence in its operations, with internal organizational adjustments being part of its continuous efforts to improve service delivery.
