Renault Nissan Automotive Pvt Ltd has announced that it has manufactured 2.5 million cars at its state-of-the-art Chennai manufacturing facility. Demonstrating manufacturing excellence over the past 13 years. The plant produces over 1.92 lahks (192,000) of Renault and Nissan cars annually, equivalent to one car produced every three minutes. The plant has manufactured 20 models across Renault and Nissan since its inception.
The plant has also established Chennai as a renowned international hub for automotive exports, exporting over 1.15 million vehicles to over 108 destinations, including Middle Eastern, Europe, Latin America, New Zealand, Australia, South-East Asia, SAARC countries, and Sub-Saharan Africa.In the future, Renault Nissan Alliance plans to invest $600 million in India to introduce new products, and technologies, and boost production and R&D activities.
The focus will be on six new vehicles, including two fully electric cars, enhancing plant utilization and creating thousands of jobs. Commenting on the milestone, Venkatram Mamillapalle, CEO and MD, of Renault India said: “It is a moment of immense pleasure to be an indispensable part of this momentous manufacturing milestone of 2.5 million cars achieved by Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Limited.”
