Police arrested a 44-year-old man in Tamil Nadu’s Vellore district for sexually assaulting his 13-year-old daughter repeatedly for the last ten months and impregnating her.
The surprising incident came to light when the girl, a class VIII student in an authority school, complained of stomach ache. When she was taken to the Government Vellore Medical College by her relatives, a doctor who knew her told them that she was pregnant.
The girl delivered a baby boy on Tuesday, August 2. The medical group reported the incident to the Child Welfare Committee, which lodged a complaint with the all-women police in Vellore.
After interrogating the minor girl, the police team investigating the dependents found that she was sexually abused by her father for the past 10 months.
According to a report in The Times of India, the girl’s parents were separated. She and her brother lived with his grandparents. The woman used to visit her father every day to deliver food cooked by her grandmother.
During the investigation, the woman revealed that her father used to sexually abuse her whenever she went to give him food. She also said that her father threatened her with severe punishment if she told her everything.
Based on this, police arrested the man and produced him earlier than a judicial magistrate. He was remanded to police custody. He was once arrested through the Vellore all-women police and booked below a number of sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and a part of the Indian Penal Code.
