The proceedings of the Rajya Sabha were adjourned without transacting any business in the pre-lunch session on Tuesday as opposition parties, including the Congress, pressed for an immediate discussion on everything from price hike to the Agnipath project.
Congress, Left and AAP members insisted on discussing these issues, forcing the adjournment of proceedings till 2 pm.
Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu rejected notices given to opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharg and other leaders under Rule 267 calling for adjournment of business for the day to take up issues listed by them.
Opposition members insisted on discussing the matter. But this did not pacify the opposition members who started raising the issue vociferously.
Naidu asked the members to resume their seats and ordered that what they spoke would not go on record. After that, he adjourned the proceedings till 2 pm.
