Tata Motors has achieved a historic milestone in automotive safety with its Punch.ev and Nexon.ev electric vehicles both receiving top-tier 5-star safety ratings from Bharat-NCAP, underscoring Tata’s leadership in India’s electric vehicle (EV) market.
Punch.ev, Tata’s latest addition to its EV lineup, achieved remarkable scores of 31.46/32 for adult occupant protection (AOP) and 45/49 for child occupant protection (COP), setting new benchmarks in safety standards. Similarly, Nexon.ev demonstrated exceptional safety with scores of 29.86/32 for AOP and 44.95/49 for COP, reaffirming Tata Motors as the sole OEM with a full SUV portfolio achieving 5-star ratings across both Bharat-NCAP and Global-NCAP tests.Nitin Gadkari, India’s Minister of Road Transport and Highways, commended Tata Motors for its commitment to safety, stating, “The 5-star ratings for Nexon.ev and Punch.ev under Bharat-NCAP highlight Tata Motors’ role in advancing vehicle safety standards in India.”
Shailesh Chandra, MD of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, emphasized the company’s dedication to safety, noting, “Safety is a paramount concern for Indian car buyers, and our vehicles reflect our unwavering commitment to delivering the highest standards of protection.” Both models have garnered significant attention since their launches, with Punch.ev capturing over 10,000 customers, including a substantial share from rural markets. The Nexon.ev, a pivotal player in India’s EV revolution with over 68,000 units sold since 2020, continues to lead the charge with its advanced safety features and technological innovations.
