Assam’s small tea growers have expressed disappointment towards the Assam Government.
The All Assam Small Tea Growers Association (ASTGA) said that equating them with large plantations was an injustice on the part of the government.
According to a notification issued by the state labor department, the daily wages have been increased by Rs 27 with effect from August 1.
The President of AASTGA – Rajen Bora, “the decision was taken without consulting us, and it is not possible for us to pay the new wages.”
He added, “The government should first set up a system so that small tea growers get the minimum price as support for their tea leaves,”.
