An advisory warning regarding the rise in WhatsApp hacking cases has been issued by Nagaland Police. Scammers compromise users’ accounts by distributing harmful links or APK files through WhatsApp or other services. Sharing the WhatsApp verification code with scammers is an additional technique.
To guard against hacking, the Nagaland Police have advised users to implement two-step verification on their WhatsApp accounts. By preventing accounts from being misused for financial aid or illegal activities, this provides an additional degree of security. It is recommended that users refrain from exchanging WhatsApp verification codes, clicking on links, and installing APK files from unidentified sources.
In order to stop further exploitation, the Nagaland Police have warned users of hacked WhatsApp accounts to get in touch with authorities right once. Additionally, they advise users to reload the software in order to recover compromised accounts and to raise awareness about hacked accounts. Additionally, they advise users to verify the legitimacy of any money demands they receive through WhatsApp before responding.
