Police arrested online fraudsters from Assam

According to Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo, Naharlagun police detained an internet scammer from the Barpeta district of Assam on Tuesday. The arrest was made in relation to the Section 420 IPC case at the Naharlagun police station.

Yakub Ali, the arrested fraudster, allegedly used the okx app to conduct a fraudulent scam. By offering large returns, he persuaded people to invest in a purported networking company using these platforms. According to the SP, he converted the money into USDT and moved it to his OKX App account after collecting money from multiple victims.

According to reports, the scammer set up several accounts on for victims, promising to double their investment in exchange for their money. Even if virtual money showed up on their accounts, victims couldn’t take it out. Ali closed the account and disappeared after accumulating a substantial sum. According to the SP, Ali was captured from Chunbari village, Kalpani in Assam’s Barpeta district with the help of Assam police. After being brought before the Yupia judicial magistrate’s court, the accused was placed in police custody for five days in order to conduct additional investigation.
