Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked various government departments and ministries to recruit 10 lakh people in “mission mode” over the next one-and-a-half years.
The government’s decision comes amid frequent criticism from the opposition over the unemployment issue. A large number of vacancies are often flagged in various government sectors.
The decision to fill 10 lakh posts in the next 18 months means the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will have something solid to counter the opposition’s criticism of its government over the unemployment issue in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The country will gear up for the next general elections, which are expected to be held 18 months from now in April-May 2024.
PMO tweeted, “PM Narendra Modi reviewed the status of Human Resources in all departments and ministries and instructed that recruitment of 10 lakh people be done by the Government in mission mode in next 1.5 years,”.
