Pawan Singh says won’t contest Lok Sabha polls, day after BJP names him as candidate from Asansol

Actor Pawan Singh who was selected as BJP candidate to contest in election from West Bengal’s Asansol constituency has step back and announced that he will not be able to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

‘I express my heartfelt gratitude to the top leadership of Bharatiya Janata Party. The party trusted me and declared me as the candidate from Asansol, but due to some reason, I will not be able to contest the elections from Asansol…. @JPNadda,’ Singh posted in Hindi on his X handle.

Soon after actor’s announcement, TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee said that Pawan Singh was forced to do so because of the power of the people of Bengal. ‘The INDOMITABLE SPIRIT AND POWER OF THE PEOPLE OF WEST BENGAL,’ Banerjee wrote on his official X handle, tagging Singh’s post.
