Paramilitary Officer dies in terrorist attack in Kashmir’s Pulwama

A paramilitary officer was killed in action following the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama on Sunday. It was the 2d major attack on security forces last week.
Police said the terrorists opened fire while submitting an exam at Gangu crossing in Pulwama from the apple orchard.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Vinod Kumar of the Central Reserve Police Force was taken to a health center after being injured in the attack. He was dead declared by the doctor.
Immediately after the attack, strong forces rushed to the spot and a one-time search operation was launched to nab the terrorists.

On Tuesday, an assistant sub-inspector of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Mushtaq Ahmed, was killed and two other policemen were injured after terrorists attacked a police examination center in Srinagar’s Lalbazar area.

Amaq, an ISIS propaganda arm, claimed responsibility for the attack and additionally released a video shot using bodycams worn by the attackers. They also threatened more such attacks.

The attack took place when security personnel was on high alert amid the ongoing Amarnath Yatra. In addition to the existing extensive security arrangements in the Valley, additional troops have been deployed around the Yatra route.

According to the police, hundreds of terrorists among local recruits have been killed in anti-terrorist operations by security forces in the last six months.
