Opposition demands PM intervention on MPs suspensions, India

The Indian Government has suspended 141 MPs from 11 different opposition parties who sit in the lower and upper houses of parliament till the end of the winter session which is to end on Friday. To reports, 78 MPs were suspended on Monday, the highest in a single day.

Recently, the MPs were suspended for protesting against the security breach at the parliamentary premises. The parties have accused the leading Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the suspension of the MPs.

Further, the Opposition MPs have demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the home minister, Amit Shah Intervention into the matter in the parliament. However, the BJP speaker has refused saying the security breach is not within the purview of the government.
