Opposition demands for President and EC intervene due to poll violation

Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria is accused for campaign in Rajasthan for BJP. The Assam units of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have demanded his resignation from the post.

According to the opposition parties, Kataria has violated the election norms as he relinquished all political posts before joining the constitutional post. The parties have asked for President and Election Commission intervention into the matter.

Assam TMC President Ripun Bora said, “Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria is busy campaigning for the BJP in Udaipur, Rajasthan. This is a challenge to democracy; the Election Commission of India should take action against him.”

In the statement Bora demanded immediate sack from the position. Further, he also alleged BJP for misusing its power.
