Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has emphasized that the implementation of the One Nation, One Election initiative will play a crucial role in strengthening democracy, increasing voter participation, and reducing economic burdens.
Speaking at a discussion at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan, Dr. Saha highlighted the positive impact of the initiative, stating that frequent elections disrupt governance, education, and development. He pointed out that businessmen were once seen as adversaries of society under the previous Left Front regime, but under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, their role is now respected.
Dr. Saha stressed that frequent elections disrupt schools, increase costs, and enforce repeated Model Code of Conduct restrictions, hampering governance. “One Nation, One Election will ensure smooth administration, better voter turnout, and significant economic benefits,” he added.
Expressing strong support for the initiative, the Chief Minister noted that a Parliamentary committee is examining its feasibility, and the move could bring political stability and efficiency in governance.
