Neeraj Chopra who is known as Olympic gold medalist javelin thrower, achieved another historic feat as he became the first Indian to win the prestigious Diamond League final title here on Thursday.

Neeraj started with a foul but topped it with a throw of 88.44m. His 4th career best — on his second attempt, which turned out to be his winning effort. His next four throws were 83.60m, 86.11m, 87.00m and 88.00m.
He has thrown 88m-plus six times this season which showed the consistency of his throws. From this season he holds the national record of throwing in 89.94m.
In the Diamond League finals this was Neeraj Chopra’s third appearance. In 2017 and 2018 he was ranked seventh and fourth respectively.
