The work-from-home dynamic has brought in a paradigm shift in our lifestyles with increased screen time and prolonged working hours. This has also changed everyone’s eating habits, especially working professionals and students, with the frequency of munching on unwholesome ready-to-eat foods increasing day by day. Given the intervals between two meals are getting longer this causes acidity and other digestive problems which cause permanent complications in the long-run. Nutritious food plays a pivotal role in helping one stay healthy. Integrative Health Coach and Nutritionist Neha Ranglani suggested three foods one must have every day. These are Almonds, Oranges and Cucumbers.
A study shows that people who ate nuts such as almonds, at least seven times per week had a 20% lower all-cause mortality rate compared to those who did not eat nuts. Almonds are a rich source of nutrients such as vitamin E, magnesium, protein, riboflavin, zinc etc. They also contain proteins which are known to contribute to growth and maintenance of muscle mass. A research suggests that including oranges in one’s diet lowers the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Oranges are a rich source of Vitamin C which produces white blood cells and antibodies, boosting one’s immunity and keeping infections at bay. Cucumbers help the body to hydrate itself. They contain calcium and vitamin K which are essential to get stronger bones. They are a source of Vitamins A, B, C, manganese, copper, and potassium that aid in maintaining a good immune system.
Including these three foods in everyday meals will ensure overall well-being by keeping a check on digestion and strengthening immunity.
