The Tripura government has announced that salaries of faculty members, medical officers, and staff at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GB Pant Hospital will be disbursed only after attendance verification through biometric and manual systems.
The move follows widespread allegations regarding the irregular presence of doctors and hospital staff. According to a government order issued Monday, all concerned employees must have their factual attendance reports verified and submitted by Heads of Departments (HODs), Heads of Offices (HOO), Resident Medical Officers (RMO), Nursing Superintendents, and Section In-Charges by the 15th of every month. “In case of malfunctioning of biometric devices, manual attendance must be maintained on physical registers until the devices are restored,” the order stated.
The policy will also apply to the monthly stipends of Post Graduate Trainees, Junior Residents, and Intern Doctors under AGMC and GB Pant Hospital. Additionally, the same attendance-based salary release system will be enforced across all District Hospitals, Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and Community Health Centres (CHCs) in Tripura.
