Nissan plans to launch autonomous-drive mobility services in Japan by fiscal year 2027

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has announced plans to commercialize its autonomous-drive mobility services in Japan by fiscal year 2027. This is a significant step towards Nissan’s long-term vision, Nissan Ambition 2030, which aims to empower mobility by solving transportation service issues faced by local communities. Nissan plans to begin offering autonomous-drive mobility services in fiscal year 2027*2, working with third parties such as local authorities and transport operators.

The company will begin trials in the Minato Mirai area in fiscal 2024 and scale up the trials the following fiscal year. The initiative will be promoted in close cooperation with the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and other central ministries.

The timeline for the initiative includes driving tests in the Minato Mirai area in fiscal year 2024, service demonstration tests in the Yokohama area from fiscal years 2025 to 2026, and aiming to start providing services in three to four municipalities, including rural areas, with tens of vehicles in fiscal year 2027.
