Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIPL) and The Akshaya Patra Foundation (TAPF) have successfully provided over 50 lakh nutritious meals to students in New Delhi. This initiative, spanning from January to December 2023, has significantly impacted the lives of thousands of children enrolled in government schools across the capital.
The partnership, aligned with Prime Minister’s POSHAN initiative, has targeted students from both Central and State Government-aided schools, addressing critical issues of nutrition and education simultaneously. Implemented through four Akshaya Patra kitchens in New Delhi, the program has reached over 300 schools, positively impacting over 49,000 students from low-income communities.
Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, expressed his commitment to making a lasting difference in society, stating, “By addressing crucial issues of nutrition and education, we are investing in the future of children.” This sentiment was echoed by Mr. Bharatarshabha Dasa, National President Operations and Projects of Akshaya Patra Foundation, who emphasized their dedication to making a lasting difference in the lives of students. The initiative not only addresses immediate concerns of food security and nutrition but also aims to increase school attendance, reduce dropout rates, and eliminate discrimination among children. By nourishing children, the program lays the groundwork for a healthier and brighter future, ensuring they have the opportunity to thrive academically and beyond.
