NIA charges 3 Mizoram men for trafficking arms to Manipur insurgents

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a supplementary chargesheet against three Mizoram residents—Vanlaldailova, Lalmuanpuia, and Lalrinchhunga alias Albert—for allegedly trafficking illegal arms and explosives to insurgent groups operating in Manipur. The trio was arrested on December 6, 2024, following search operations at their homes, which led to the seizure of a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and explosive materials. The NIA’s investigation revealed their active involvement in a broader arms network suspected of fueling ethnic unrest and violence in the region.

According to officials, the accused played key roles in aiding militant activities and supplying weapons to groups engaged in destabilizing efforts in the conflict-hit areas of Manipur. The agency stated that their actions significantly contributed to the escalation of violence and disruption of peace in the northeastern states.

The chargesheet was filed under the Indian Penal Code, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and the Arms Act. The NIA reaffirmed its commitment to combating terrorism and dismantling organized arms trafficking networks across the region.
