Next year a 50-bed covid hospital will start in Cooch Behar

The number of Covid-19 cases is currently not available. However, 5 covid hospitals are being built in the Cooch Behar district to deal with covid in the coming days. The construction of a 50-bed Covid hospital has started just opposite the MJN Medical College and Hospital in District Cooch Behar.

Besides the Tufanganj sub-district hospital, Sitai block primary health center, Shitalakuchi and Changrabanda area new covid hospitals will be built. After the outbreak of Corona in March 2020, a part of the Cooch Behar MJN Medical College and Hospital was set up with a Covid ward. Besides, a private hospital in the Chakchaka area of Cooch Behar was converted into a new Covid hospital and the situation was handled at that time.

Later, Covid wards were also opened in Dinhata and Tufanganj sub-district hospitals. However, the private hospital in the Chakchaka area has been left as the graph of Covid has come to the bottom. Therefore, in the future, if there is an outbreak of covid, there will be no difficulty in treating the affected, so a plan has been taken to build one covid hospital in 5 sub-divisions of the district. Construction of three more covid hospitals in Cooch Behar with 50 beds and 20 beds in Sitai Shitalakuchi and Changrabandha is underway.

Construction of a 50-bed Covid hospital has started on the Health Department land opposite the Cooch Behar Medical College. 4 crores rupees have been allocated for this. The officials of the health department claim that the work will be completed by March 2024.
