A labourer aged 36 years who was engaged in preparations for the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi on December 23 allegedly committed suicide, on Friday Night. Vikram, a resident of Afzalpur in Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh, was depressed due to an illness. He committed suicide by hanging himself on Friday night, officials said. 75 trains cancelled due to Cyclone named Jawad

World Gold Council has released a report where it highlights the role of its members, many of the world’s most forward-thinking gold mining companies, in contributing to socio-economic development in the countries and communities where they operate. Collectively, WGC member companies contributed$37.9bn to the GDP of the countries where they operate in the form of taxes, salaries and payments to suppliers. This represented 63% of the total revenue they received from gold sales and equates to almost US$1,100 in value added locally for every ounce of gold produced.

52 killed in Russian mine accident

A total of 52 people, including six rescuers, were killed after smoke occurred in a coal mine in Russia’s Kemerovo Region. It was the most deadly mine accident in five years in the country.
