Lok Sabha first phase from April 19 in Assam

Ahead of Lok sabha elections, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) chief Lurinjyoti Gogoi officially filed their nomination papers, on Tuesday. According to the sources, both the leaders have filed their nomination papers for the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency. The first phase of the polling for Dibrugarh constituency will be held on April 19. Sarbananda Sonowal was accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other top leaders of the state. On the other hand, Lurinjyoti Gogoi sought blessings from his father and late mother.

Owaisi knocks SC to stay on CAA implementation

He states that earlier 1.5 lakh Muslims reportedly excluded from the National Register of Citizens (NRC) list in Assam and 12 lakh Hindus were listed in the NRC. Addressing the matter, Owaisi asked for fair and non-discriminatory approach towards granting citizenship, as minorities from neighbouring countries deserve protection.
