Ahead of Lok Sabha 2024 elections, after Assam announced poll day holiday lists J&K has also issued an order for holiday during scheduled poll dates in five parliamentary constituencies of the Union Territory. As per the Negotiable Instruments Act of 1881, aligning with the dates the government has issued the orders on April 19, 26, and May 7. Lok Sabha first phase from April 19 in Assam

Ahead of Lok sabha elections, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) chief Lurinjyoti Gogoi officially filed their nomination papers, on Tuesday. According to the sources, both the leaders have filed their nomination papers for the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency. The first phase of the polling for Dibrugarh constituency will be held on April 19. Sarbananda Sonowal was accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other top leaders of the state. New counting date released for Arunachal and Sikkim

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has released the schedules for the upcoming Lok sabha election, 2024. A notice issued by ECI has been updated about the changes of counting vote date in northeastern states. The notice said, "There shall be no change in respect of schedule for Parliamentary constituencies of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim." According to the sources, the date was previously slated on 4 June but due to the expiry of the two assembly terms on June 2, the EC has decided to bring forward the counting date.

Owaisi knocks SC to stay on CAA implementation

ECI to announce schedule for upcoming Lok Sabha polls
