States and Union territories are not allowed to “dilute” guidelines

It has been made clear by the government that states and union territories cannot "dilute" the guidelines given on the nationwide lockdown to control the spread of coronavirus.The center clearly said that no state can allow it's own activities during the lockdown period. In a letter to states and union territories, the Union Home Secretary said that only those activities permitted by the centre would be allowed from today in some parts of the country which are least affected by coronavirus.The states can take stricter actions if they want, the centre said.

New Task Force For COVID-19 Drug Testing, Vaccine: Centre

The centre has formed a high-level task force to track and monitor the work being carried out to develop vaccine against COVID-19, which has killed over 500 people in the country."This Task Force will expedite coordination of work done by all ministries on the issue related to vaccine development. This will further enable to speed up the research work carried out through international efforts by academia and research institutions," the government said in a statement.The panel will be jointly led by Member (Health), NITI Aayog and Principal Scientific Advisor to the Prime Minister.

Delhi district officials deployed in coronavirus containment zones and quarantine centres say a number of residents have flooded them with odd demands, like chicken biryani, mutton, pizza, sweets and hot samosas, keeping them on their toes during the lockdown.In a containment zone, people are not allowed to step out of their houses and government ensures delivery of essential items at their doorstep. Cops Order “Cave-Dwelling” Foreign Tourists Into Quarantine In Rishikesh

Six foreign tourists who tried to sit out the coronavirus pandemic in a cave have been sent to quarantine at an ashram near Rishikesh, a town where the Beatles also stayed after running out of money.The four men and two women - from France, the United States, Ukraine, Turkey and Nepal - had been living in a cave near Rishikesh in Uttarakhand state since March 24, police inspector Rajendra Singh Kathait told AFP.They have now been moved to Swarg Ashram, where they will be quarantined for 14 days - although none have shown coronavirus symptoms.

Bookings Open In Air India For Travel From May 4 On Certain Domestic Routes

State-run carrier Air India today said it has started taking bookings for travel from May 4 on some domestic routes and from June 1 for international routes. The airline said it is, however, not taking any booking for domestic flights for travel till May 3, or the day the extended lockdown over the COVID-19 pandemic is scheduled to end.
