HIV cases update: Assam finds in trouble

Assam finds grappling surge of HIV-positive cases in the state, rapidly over past three years specially among injecting drugs users. As per reports, from April to June 2023, a staggering 50.8% of the 1,317 cases detected linked to Injecting Drug Users (IDUs), exceeding the national average of 9.03% by a concerning 2.21 %. Detailing on Northeast regions, Mizoram has the highest adult HIV prevalence with 2.70%, followed by 1.36 % in Nagaland, 1.05% in Manipur, 0.39% in Meghalaya and 0.11% in Assam. Assam CM empowers meritorious students with scooters

Assam students who appeared for Higher Secondary Examination, 2023 and scored above 60% and 75% respectively have been rewarded scooters by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at the Veterinary College field in Khanapara, Guwahati on Thursday. According to the sources, the initiative took place under Pragyan Bharati Scheme, with 35,770 students being recipients of scooters under the scheme in 2023. The initiative is taken to empower youths through education. Assam CM launches development scheme for 264 Schools in Assam

Mega tree plantation in Assam receives Guinness World Record

The Assam government received nine Guinness World Records certificates for a mega plantation drive in September-October. As per sources, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma received the certificates from Guinness World Records Adjudicator Swapnil Dangarikar for the state’s ‘Amrit Brikshya Andolan’. Sarma said, “Amrit Brikshya Andolan has been successful only because of Jan Bhagidari. The collective efforts of both citizens and government functionaries have transformed the impossible to possible.” Earlier, a total number of 1, 11, 17,781 seedlings tree species were planted across the state on a single day on September 17.

Uttarakhand rescued operation successful, workers video released

Few days ago, a tunnel got collapsed at Uttarakhand due landslide, the incident took place on 12 November trapping 41 workers inside the tunnel, since then the government started an operation to rescue the workers from the site.
