Annual Status of Education Report (ASER 2023) has conducted a survey for Assam students from the age groups of 14-16 and 17-18. As per the survey revelation, a worrisome trend has emerged that children using smartphones, exhibit higher inclination towards more entertainment than their studies. The survey says from basic reading research: Among students aged 14–16 surveyed in Assam, only 56.9% can read a Standard II-level text in regional language, with a breakdown of 49.1% for males and 62.7% for females. Assam CM Sarma launches distribution of ration cards to the beneficiaries

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has officially launched the ceremonial distribution of ration cards under National Food Security Act (NFSA). According to the reports, over 42 lakh beneficiaries has received the card which was held in Guwahati. The Assam CM has informed that every card holder of the state is eligible for for monthly allocation of 5kg rice without any cost. Also for this month, the benefits will be available till January 31.

President of India Draupadi Murmu was about to visit Assam's Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday but the trip got cancelled due to bad weather.
