Assam: State unit of Congress approaches Court on legislators disqualification

The state unit of Congress party, Bhupen Borah has said that Assam Congress is keen to disqualify five MLAs from the party for openly support BJP without any resignation. To reports the five legislators are Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, Sifdeque Ahmed, Shahilanta Das, Basanta Das and Sherman Ali Ahmed. Bhupen Borah said, "We are looking for a decision to come from the Speaker of the Assembly. If he refuses to take any action against the five MLAs, we will approach the Court."

Amid fuel hike; Sonitpur petrol pump caught supplying water instead of fuel

Amidst sudden petrol & diesel fuels price hike in Assam post-election results declaration, recently a heated incident unfolded in a petrol pump of Sonitpur district. According to the sources, two motorcycle owners faced difficulties when their vehicles broke down, on investigating they out that the petrol pump supplied water instead of petrol. The incident took place on Tuesday, night. Soon after the incident took place, their have been outrage among the people which lead to protest. To control the situation, police team was deployed including DSP and police officer-in-charge of Sonitpur district.

Petrol and diesel prices in Assam has been increased by Rs. 1.01 since Thursday just after twenty-four hours of election results declaration which has raised eyebrows of the residents. Hike in fuel prices, sparks concern in Assam

Assam witnesses surge of fuel price after Lok Sabha elections results declaration. According to the sources, petrol prices have risen by Rs. 1.02 rupees, while diesel prices have increased by Rs. 1.01. The surge of sudden fuel prices has sparked widespread concern among the residents of Assam, unexpected hike just after twenty-four hours of election results announcement. As of today, the price of petrol in Guwahati stands at Rs 97.19 per litre, a slight increase from yesterday's rate of Rs 96.17. Assam University postpones CBCS examination, Silchar
