In a latest development, Damoh district in MP (Madhya Pradesh) is on a way to become home to the India's largest tiger reserve, said a forest department official. The union govt has issued a notice accepting the proposal to merge the Noradehi Sanctuary with the Durgavati Sanctuary of the Damoh district, which will create a huge tiger reserve extending upto 2,300 sq km. According to Damoh's Forest Divisional Officer, MS Uikey, the initiative to create new tiger reserve will provide a safe place for the area's tiger population, which at present stands to 16.
