Chennai: Only Double-Vaccinated people will get Train Tickets from Monday

Only double vaccinated people will be allowed to travel by Chennai local trains from January 10 to 31 January, the Southern Railway announced today. Due to the Omicron wave, passengers without the certificate will not be able to purchase tickets. There won't be any exception and the rule will also apply to season ticket holders too. The unreserved ticketing system on mobile will not be available during the period. Tamil Nadu reported 8,981 new COVID-19 cases on Friday. World Health Organization warns people about Omicron not being common cold

Reports that Omicron has symptoms alike to that of common cold, the WHO on Wednesday, warned strictly that it is not a common cold and should not be taken casually. 4.1 magnitude earthquake shakes Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand

An earthquake of magnitude 4.1 struck Pithoragarh district midnight on Thursday but no damage has been reported. The earthquake occurred at 12.39 am had its epicentre at a depth of 10 km in Askot, District Disaster Management Officer Bhupendra Mahar said. "No damage has been reported so far as the earthquake was of mild intensity," Mahar said. On Wednesday, an earthquake of magnitude 4.3 on the Richter Scale jolted Southeast of Portblair in the early hours. According to NCS, the tremors of the earthquake had a depth of 100 kilometres and occurred at around 5.31 am.

Due to increase of Covid-19 cases, UAE tightens entry requirements

Due to major spike in cases of Covid-19 in the United Arab Emirates, the emergency, crisis and disasters committee of Abu Dhabi has tightened entry requirements. The committee said that from December 30, vaccinated individuals will need a green status on the Alhosn App on their phones, while the unvaccinated will need a negative RT-PCR test result received within 96 hours to enter Abu Dhabi. Till now, the UAE has reported nearly 755,000 cases, 2,160 fatalities and 742,565 recoveries due to Covid-19. The active cases stand at 10,186. New measures approved by SEBI to reform IPO Market

Two held with pangolin scales in Baikanthapur forest
