An expert rescue team of Nagpur-headquartered Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) has gone to Assam to take part in the operations to rescue labourers trapped inside a quarry in Umrangso, some 250 kilometres from Guwahati in the north-eastern state, an official said here on Thursday. Drugs haul worth over Rs 11 crore seized in Assam

In three separate anti-narcotics operations carried out by units of Assam Police, drugs worth Rs 11 crore were seized from different parts of the state on Tuesday. CacharPolice conducted an anti-narcotic operation and seized 1.17 kg of suspected heroin worth Rs 5.1 crore from Dighar Fulertol. In another operation, Cachar Police recovered 73.97 kg of Ganja worth Rs 38 lakh from Dhanehari under Sonai PS.  In a third operation, Karbi Anglong Police intercepted a bus coming from a neighbourung state at Dillai Tiniali and seized 1.22 kg of suspected heroin worth Rs 6 crore.
