Incessant rains over the past few days in Assam have cause extreme floods in many places, inflicting floods that disrupted railway and avenue traffic. In a bizarre incident, Residents of Rangia laid nets on a flooded national highway to capture fish. Floods and resultant landslides in Assam have claimed sixty two lives this year so far. Gauhati High Court sends notice to West Bengal Chief Secretary

The Gauhati High Court has issued notices to the West Bengal Chief Secretary and the Kolkata Police Commissioner for alleged non-cooperation with the Assam Police in executing a non-bailable arrest warrant against the Kolkata-based political commentator. The commentator, Garg Chatterjee, made some objectionable remarks against Swargadeo Sukafa, who had been the headquarters of the Ahom dynasty in Assam some 800 years ago.
