New task force in Koyu village targets drug trafficking and crime

In a proactive move to curb illegal activities, Koyu village in Lower Siang district has established a village-level task force, aimed at monitoring and controlling unlawful peddling activities. The task force, which has set up a checkpoint at the village’s entry point, will focus on combating drug trafficking, illegal hunting, fishing, timber operations, and the unauthorized sale of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL).

The task force was formed under the leadership of Kenter Kobo, the Youth President of the Koyu Youth Welfare Society. Kobo stated that the checkpoint would be instrumental in preventing illegal activities in and around the village and ensuring swift action by reporting such incidents to the relevant authorities.

He further emphasized that the task force’s goal is to create a safer environment by deterring anti-social elements from engaging in illicit activities. The task force also appealed to citizens from neighboring villages in Lower Siang, East Siang, and other districts to refrain from participating in illegal activities and to cooperate with the efforts to maintain law and order.
