New Independent NCC Group Headquarters Opens in Aizawl

In a significant event for the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in Mizoram, Governor General Vijay Kumar Singh inaugurated the independent NCC Group Headquarters in Aizawl at Mizoram University’s Auditorium. The ceremonial event included the Governor presenting the headquarters flag to Group Commander Brig Gunjit Singh Arora and releasing a special commemorative “My Stamp”. Attendees included notable figures such as Sports and Youth Services Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar and Lt Col Clement Lalhmingthanga (Retd). The Governor highlighted the establishment of the headquarters as a proud milestone and recognized the NCC’s achievements since 1964, emphasizing its unique role in building discipline among youth and preparing them for Armed Forces careers. He expressed optimism for increased NCC activities, urging cadets to uphold the motto “Unity & Discipline” while commending the Mizoram NCC Band’s performance at Republic Day parades. The Governor advocated for the expansion of various NCC activities, including community service and environmental initiatives, to foster patriotism, and voiced support for the Mizoram Government’s adventure tourism endeavors, hoping for greater participation from NCC cadets. A documentary showcasing the history and achievements of the NCC in Mizoram was screened during the program.
