Netizens accuse food aggregator of charging Rs 3 extra per order

Swiggy, a food delivery aggregator faced sudden allegations of overcharging its platform users when purchasing food from restaurants. The issue was flagged by multiple on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), seeing an explanation of what customers thought.

Angry users of the platform Swiggy took to micro blogging platform X to flag that they were being overcharged for their food orders from restaurants through Swiggy. Customers have flagged that Swiggy is charging the nearest full number and adding an extra ₹3 to the order price.

Deepak Shenoy, founder and CEO of Capital Mind, also shared a similar experience on the platform. “Holy moly. This is actual fraud and I found that @Swiggy is doing this even for me! Here’s my last order and it adds up to 255.60. But they charge 259? This stinks. It can’t be some random error, it seems to be on purpose to add ₹3 extra. What’s going on?”

Swiggy has issued a clarification saying that users of the food delivery platform are not being overcharged.

“This is only due to a technical error in the order history page. The platform fee of 5 has been reduced to 2. Due to the error, the balance of *3 is shown as a separate entry as ‘discount applicable’, resulting in the discount being calculated twice. So *3 Its difference.” Clarification read by Swiggy.
