Nepal’s Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has announced the launch of an inter-provincial electric bus network starting August 2025. The project, backed by Chinese and Indian green tech firms, includes 200 e-buses and 50 charging stations across the country.
Kathmandu will serve as the central hub, connecting cities like Pokhara, Biratnagar, and Nepalgunj. Officials say the system will reduce pollution and cut intercity fares by 30%.
The move aligns with South Asia’s growing push toward clean mobility. West Bengal and Bhutan have expressed interest in adopting similar cross-border green transport initiatives.
