Arts Festival 2020-21 organised jointly by Department of School Education (DoSE) and Literacy, Ministry of Education, government of India and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) New Delhi concluded Friday.
According to a press release, the art festival focuses on promoting traditional folk and classical art forms that reflect India’s’ rich culture, tradition and civilization and also to create a platform to explore exchange and experience the diverse cultural heritage of the country.
Kala Utsav National Level Online Competition was held from January 11 to January 22. There were nine categories of competitions for both female and male participants. 18 students (winners of the state level competitions) represented Nagaland in this competition.
Kala Utsav national level online competitions 2020-21 concluded with traditional dance competition from both male and female category.
Students from different states and union territories showcased various folk dances on the twelfth day (January 22) of the Kala Utsav 2020-1. Two students (GHS Longmisa, Mokokchung and GHS Mhainamtsi Peren) represented the Nagaland on the folk dance competition through online mode at Highland Dawn media Kohima.
Out of 18 participants, 12 participants performed in the studio at Highland Dawn Media near High school Junction Kohima for six days and six participants of visual art 2D, 3D and indigenous toys and games was held at RGHSS multipurpose hall from January 15 to 16.
The students participated in the Kala Utsav 2020 through the digital platform and schedules for the State of Nagaland were as indicated as following; January 12- vocal music classical; January 14- instrumental music classical; January 15 and 16 -visual art 2D and 3D and indigenous toys and games; January 16-vocal music traditional/folk; January 18-instrumental music traditional/folk; January 20-dance classical; January 22-dance traditional/folk.
Nagaland participated in all categories in the national level competitions and participants along with mentors from across the districts travelled to Kohima to perform.
Deputy mission director, Samagra Shiksha Liyalo Apon who was also the Nagaland programme coordinator Kala Utsav 2020 acknowledged mission director Samagra Shiksha, Kevileno Angami and joint mission director Samagra Shiksha, Dr. Kevizakie Rio for their support and making the programme a grand success.
He also appreciated director School Education, Wonthungo Tsopoe for his visit and encouragement to the participants as well as the participants, teacher mentors, technical coordinator and staff of Samagra Shiksha for active participation and extended help for successful completion of the programme.
