MPOC organizes Palm Oil Awareness Program at Forum Mall, Kolkata

The palm oil industry has long stood as a cornerstone of global trade, owing to its substantial economic impact and affordability. In an effort to educate consumers about the genuine benefits of palm oil, the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) recently conducted a consumer awareness initiative at Forum Courtyard Mall, in Kolkata, India.

Misconceptions about palm oil’s nutritional benefits have led to consumers being unaware of its role in maintaining a healthy diet. Prof. Pubali Dhar from the University of Calcutta emphasized that palm oil and its fraction, palm olein, share similar digestibility characteristics with other edible oils and fats. The awareness campaign conducted by MPOC in Kolkata dispels misinformation about palm oil.

The event at Forum Courtyard Mall provided information about its nutritional benefits, safety, and contribution to the food industry. Mr. Angshu Mallick, CEO of Adani Wilmar Limited, stated, “Accurate information about palm oil is not only essential but also enlightening, helping consumers make informed and healthy choices while dispelling unfounded fears.”The event aimed at raising awareness about palm oil production and consumption, attracting participants through interactive sessions, quizzes, spot prizes, and expert talks, promoting transparency and educating consumers about its benefits.
