The Mizoram State Sports Council (MSSC) began its 50th Golden Jubilee celebrations with a grand opening ceremony held at the Vaivakawn Cultural Center & Auditorium on Tuesday. The event was graced by former Minister H. Thansanga as the Chief Guest.
In his speech, Thansanga recalled the Council’s foundation in 1976, highlighting the challenges faced during its formation and praising the commitment of its founding members. He encouraged Mizo athletes to pursue their sporting goals with perseverance and aim for international success.
Sports & Youth Services Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, also present at the event, lauded the MSSC for completing 50 years of service in promoting sports in the state. While noting Mizoram’s achievements in sports, he stressed the need for continued improvement. He also mentioned India’s aspirations to host the Olympics in 2036 and expressed confidence in the potential of Mizo youth to represent the country on the global stage.
