Mizoram police seize Rs 15.40 lakh worth of heroin in Champhai

In a significant operation against drug trafficking, the Mizoram Excise and Narcotics Department seized 244.5 grams of heroin and 2.28 kilograms of methamphetamine tablets from Mualkawi village in Champhai district on Thursday.

Three individuals were apprehended during the operation, which was carried out with support from the Assam Rifles and volunteers of the Young Mizo Association (YMA). Officials lauded the collaborative effort as a crucial step in combating the region’s burgeoning drug trade.

In another joint operation, the Assam Rifles and the Excise and Narcotics Department seized 22 grams of Heroin No. 4 valued at Rs 15.40 lakh from the Zote area in Champhai. The contraband was discovered concealed in a clothing bag belonging to a 40-year-old woman identified as Tlangmawii. The woman has been handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department for further legal action.
