Mizoram Police seize meth worth ₹6 crore in major drug bust

A major drug haul by Mizoram police leads to the seizure of methamphetamine worth over Rs 6 crore and the arrest of two suspects. Aizawl, April 29, 2025: Mizoram police made a significant drug bust on April 29, seizing 47.511 kilograms of methamphetamine valued at Rs 6.176 crore in Aizawl’s Zemabawk locality. The operation, carried out by the CID (SB) branch, led to the arrest of two individuals from Champhai town.

The arrested suspects were caught transporting the drugs in two vehicles — a KIA Seltos (MZ 01 AD 6157) and a KIA Sonet (MZ 01 AC 3237). Police have filed a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Special Narcotic Police Station.

In a related development, a special court in Mizoram’s Champhai district recently sentenced 29-year-old C. Lalrinsanga to 10 years in prison for drug trafficking. Lalrinsanga, a resident of Buang village in Champhai, was convicted on April 24 under the NDPS Act for trafficking heroin and methamphetamine tablets. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1.1 lakh on the convict.
