In response to recent hailstorms and low-pressure conditions affecting Mizoram, the state government has instructed all Deputy Commissioners to maintain heightened preparedness and activate the District Emergency Operation Centres (DEOCs) immediately. The latest weather forecasts predict widespread light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds, with wind speeds of 30–50 km/h expected in various areas. This unstable weather may lead to intermittent rainfall and isolated hailstorm events in the coming days. Additionally, meteorological warnings suggest moderate rainfall (5–15 mm/hr) and potential localized impacts such as waterlogging, slippery roads, traffic disruptions, and damage to vulnerable infrastructures and crops. Consequently, district authorities are urged to prioritize damage assessments, relief assistance, preventive measures, public communication, and ongoing monitoring of weather updates.
