In a significant move, the Mizoram government announced a 4 percent increase in the dearness allowance (DA) for its employees, effective from November. This hike is being described as a Christmas gift to the workforce.
With the new increase, government employees will receive 40 percent of their basic pay as DA, as confirmed by an official statement. Additionally, the council of ministers approved the establishment of a state human rights commission and the creation of 16 positions within the panel.
This development follows a directive from the Gauhati High Court, which recently ordered the Mizoram government to set up the commission. The court’s division bench, led by Chief Justice Vijay Bishnoi and Justice Michael Zothankhuma, has granted the government a two-month deadline to fulfill this mandate.
