Mizoram CM Offers to Quit if Tied to Lengpui Land Deal Allegations

Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma stated he would resign if evidence connects him to financial irregularities concerning the Lengpui land deal, amid allegations of receiving kickbacks. He challenged the opposition to substantiate these claims, emphasizing his commitment to integrity. Congress leader John Rotluangliana accused Lalduhoma of aiming for a share of Rs 14 crore from the deal, of which he supposedly received Rs 10 crore, allegedly requesting payment in gold. In response, Lalduhoma denied the accusations, asserting they undermine his personal reputation and that of his party, the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM). The land in question, near Lengpui Airport, was acquired by the IAF for a military base, which has triggered cross-party allegations of financial misconduct worth Rs 187.90 crore, claiming that compensation favored non-original landowners at the expense of the rightful ones.
