Militant killed in encounter in J-K

Another militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday, police said, taking the toll to four in an operation that lasted more than 24 hours.

Top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Yusuf Kantru, one of the longest-surviving militants in the Valley, was shot dead in an operation on Thursday.

“One militant was killed after the exchange of fire resumed on Friday morning,” a police official said.

He said that the number of militants killed in the operation which started early in the morning has increased to four.

Three militants were killed in the operation in north Kashmir’s Malwah area of ​​Baramulla, he added.

He described the killing of Kantru as a big success.
